ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Highway Department – Vehicle Inventory Report
Highway Vehicle Replacement Bond Resolution
The highway department is requesting replacement of a snow plow that was purchased in 1987 this year and another to be purchased next year. The vehicles will be a plow/dump truck combination and can be used year round vs the ones which need replacing. The purchase price per vehicle is $214,000 and will be bonded for 5 years the first payment beginning in 2011 (will have to be included in the 2011 budget). There will be other vehicles whose bonds will be paid off each year. If you have questions, I would recommend attending the meeting.

2. DCSMA Meeting – Rob Latimer
County-wide Shared Services Local Government Efficiency Grant Resolution
Deputy Supervisor must be working on a grant application. Please be aware that last year at the recommendation of Harry Colgan and Robert McKeon a Shared Services Task force was formed which includes two representatives from the three municipalities so that shared services and taxpayer savings can be established.

4. Reorganization - 2010 - see below from previous email
We are in the process of Reorganization and Appointments to Town Boards and Committees and have a few vacancies that some of you may be interested in. If you are interested and want more information please let me know.

All letters of interest should be submitted to the Town Clerk, Sue McCann, Red Hook Town Hall, 7340 South Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571 unless otherwise indicated and then she should be cc'd.

Assessment Review Board - 1 vacancy The members of the Assessment Review Board are each appointed by the Town Board to a five-year term, with one member's term expiring annually. This board of community members with real estate, assessing and legal backgrounds, is the hearing body for members of the public who file grievances regarding the assessment value placed on their property by the town assessor.

IT Committee Community Member - 1 vacancy Work with Town Staff, Webmaster and consultants on various technical issues.

Planning Board - 2 Alternate vacancies - Alternate members to the planning board should attend the monthly meetings and would have a vote should there be a lack of a quorum of members. The Planning Board reviews all development projects and subdivision developments, and makes recommendations on all commercial, industrial, and business development. This board also makes recommendations regarding proposed changes to the ordinance and has assisted in the development of a master development plan for the town.

St. Margarets Committee - 2 vacancies St. Margarets is the Historic red building along Route 9 in front of Hannafords. The committee will be responsible for overseeing the restoration of the building and planning for its use.

Zoning Board of Appeals - (possible) 1 vacancy and 2 alternates The Zoning Board of Appeals hears and deliberates applications for variances to the town ordinances. Alternates should attend the monthly meetings to become familiar with issues before the board and would bote inthe event of a lack of a quorum of the members.

Economic Development Committee - 2 vacancies All interested parties should submit their letter of interest to the Chair, Michelle Martin in care of the town and cc the town clerk. Please indicate the nature of your business and what this committee should be responsible for.

We are also still seeking resumes for Highway Superintendent. The Highway Superintendent, Wayne Hildenbrand, retired leaving it to the Town Board to make an appointment. This is an elected position and will be on the ballot in November. The Superintendent of Highways oversees the day to day operations of the Highway Department. Personnel and Budget management required. Starting salary $55K per year.

The town board has discussed the possibility of going out to bid for a special prosecutor.
