Deception of the Polls: The Way they Lie
There have been two polls cited by leading "talking heads" of both sides in the last week, both supposedly proving how Americans supposedly DO NOT want Health Care changes proposed by President Obama and Democrats in the Congress; both reflecting 'wishful thinking' rather than any pragmatic opinion based on the true situation at hand in the country today.
The wording of both polls, and the setup of the concept are---- decidedly deceptive.
1) Last week: Gallup Poll states "most Americans (60%) happy with their current Health Care, do not want change."
2) Today: " 84% of Americans say they want bipartisanship in Health Care Bill."
In both cases, these are questions for a five year old.
Do you like your health care?
Should we all agree before we do anything?
If possible, OF COURSE. However, because of the National Republicans' all-out war on the American people's interests, and the fact that they have a highly-financed MIS-information campaign going throughout the country to convince relatively innocent, un-wary souls to march AND VOTE vehemently against their own self interest-----none of these simple statements mean what they say.
POLLS SAY:
1) "Keeping your current Health Care coverage":
Not possible. Health care insurers are raising their rates as much as 50%, in some cases ON HEALTHY PEOPLE, and at the same time, denying coverage for things that ARE covered, AND also stringing out the payment time on things they cannot avoid paying. That probably amounts in some cases to close to 100% hikes in rates, all in. YOU CANNOT KEEP THE CARE YOU CURRENTLY HAVE! It changes for the worse, regularly.
People may well know that and may just be answering the "Keep your current" part, wishfully hoping to keep that, knowing they cannot. Given the impossibility of that, the question does not give them the chance to choose either of the ACTUAL choices. Those are:
Keep the company currently covering you, with its DETERIORATING coverage, or go with a new plan from the government which will rein in those deteriorating changes, and give you something you can depend on to stay stable. THAT is what people want---that was not one of the choices given.
This poll result was bogus. Shame on the Gallup company for allowing that wording, and the resulting deception.
2) "84% of Americans want Bi-partisanship in Health Care":
More wishful thinking. This poll did not ask the obvious: If the GOP refuses to be involved in the process, do you want to go without Health Care? THAT was the real question, but it was hidden inside the "Motherhood and Apple pie" commentary of "do you want us all to get along?" They then used the POSITIVE answer of most sane Americans, to infer a NEGATIVE answer for "Do you want Health Care if the Republicans will not cooperate? VERY DECEPTIVE, BUGUS QUESTION. You can tell from other polls what Americans want---and they want the Health Care Bill, no matter what.
Wise up, America, and pay attention to what you are REALLY being told.
That the GOP is not to be trusted , to a degree never before seen in American History.
Call them on it. Pay attention.
